Inclusive Design Demonstration with Ally

October 24, 2018, 1:00pm to 2:00pm
Intended audience:
Faculty, Graduate Students

You are invited to a demonstration of a new inclusive design tool, called Ally, which seamlessly integrates into bCourses to help your students work with your digital course content.   For a brief overview of the product, please watch the Blackboard Ally for courses video.

Ally enables students to convert files to HTML, EPUB, electronic braille or MP3 (audio) and allows access to translated versions of all of your course download files in over 30 languages.  In addition to supporting students with disabilities, alternative formats and languages can also support English language learners and students who may prefer to engage with learning materials while on the move. Students can autonomously pick file types that work best for them removing any burden on the instructor for assistance.

The Ally tool also supplies the instructor with an indicator of the level of accessibility of the downloadable digital content and assigns an “accessibility score.”  This score is only a reference to help instructors have visibility into the accessibility levels of their course materilas and provide greater awareness to those creating digital content.

If you cannot attend the demonstration but are interested or have further questions, please contact

Registration is unavailable. Registration closed on October 23, 2018 - 5:00pm.
