The Basics of Excel, Parts 1 and 2

Description:

Part 1: October 23, 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Part 2: October 25, 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.

This class will cover the basics of Excel, from simple formulas (SUM,
COUNTIF) to more complex Excel features like Macros and the Data Analysis
ToolPak. By the end of both sections, students will be able to employ Excel
skills to open source policy data sets. These skills are transferrable to
any sector.

Zero to JupyterHub Hands-on Workshop

JupyterHub allows you to flexibly connect a custom computational environment with multiple users via the cloud. It is a rapidly-growing technology that has proven useful in pedagogy (currently being used for a class with more than 1000 students) as well as in research.

Gradescope Training and Office Hours

Description: 

Gradescope is a suite of tools designed to accommodate a common grading workflow. Students or instructors scan and upload their homework or exams. Instructors and GSIs create a living rubric used for grading that allows for speedy grading of large courses. The GradeScope software can reveal valuable statistics about students work, and provide a path for students to request re-grades of questions.

In this session, Rita-Marie Conrad, senior consultant from the Center for Teaching and Learning, will discuss common pitfalls and share tips and creative strategies to strengthen your syllabus. Participants will also have the opportunity to give and receive feedback on their syllabus.
