Introduction to the Savio High-Performance Compute Cluster

Topics will include a system overview and a review of basic cluster usage, such as logging in, accessing software, running jobs, and transferring files. Parallel Computing with MATLAB and Scaling to the Savio Cluster

A hands-on workshop for more experienced MATLAB users seeking to reduce workflow cycle and solve computationally and data-intensive problems faster by scaling to the Savio Cluster. The agenda will include: 5-minute introduction by Berkeley Research Computing staff 20-minute overview of parallel computing with MATLAB 90-minute hands-on, self-paced workshop for building parallel MATLAB applications 30-minute Q&A session of workshop 45-minute hands-on session of submitting job to Savio Cluster Highlights: Reduce cycle time for your workflow & solve computationally and data-intensive problems faster Built-in support for parallel computing Creating parallel applications to speed up independent tasks Scaling up to computer clusters, grid environments or clouds Employing GPUs to speed up your computations Programming with tall and distributed arrays to work with large data sets

AEoD Virtual Desktop

Berkeley Research Computing's Analytics Environments on-Demand (AEoD) service is designed for researchers who need to run analytic software packages (such as ArcGIS, Stata, SPSS, R Studio, etc.) on a platform that is scaled up from a standard laptop or workstation, in a Windows-based environment.
