Now in its fifth year, the Teaching Dialogues series is a regular campus-wide discussion on pressing topics related to teaching and learning, hosted by the Center for Teaching and Learning and the Academic Senate Committee on Teaching.

Pedagogical Course Support

Get personal advice from experts from the Center for Teaching and Learning on how to improve your course(s), from rethinking your course design, fostering student engagement, and infusing technology into your teaching. If you can't make it to a workshop or program, you can find resources online or schedule a consultation by emailing teaching@berkeley.edu.

Strengthen Your Syllabus

Do you have the feeling your students might not be reading your syllabus or referring to it throughout the semester? What can you do to change this? In this session, Rita-Marie Conrad, senior consultant from the Center for Teaching and Learning, will discuss common pitfalls and share tips and creative strategies to strengthen your syllabus. Participants will also have the opportunity to give and receive feedback on their syllabus. Please RSVP and please bring your laptop and at least one printed copy of your syllabus, even if it's still in draft form. All questions are welcome!

Whose Line Is It, Anyway? Community Authorship and Collaborative Writing

In the classroom, collaborative assignments have always been a thorny issue—including how to assign writing teams and how to evaluate the work fairly. Collaborations also raise ethical issues relating to authorship. We’ll look at the benefits of collaborative assignments, and how to make them work in the classroom.

Teaching Excellence Colloquium (2018-2019)

The Teaching Excellence Colloquium (TEC) is a year-long program, organized by the Center for Teaching and Learning for faculty new to Berkeley.

TEC provides participants with the knowledge, tools, and inspiration to achieve Berkeley's high expectations for teaching excellence, while benefiting from becoming part of a cohort of new faculty peers with shared perspectives across many disciplines.
