Accessible Course Content Workshops

Digital Learning Services is excited to offer workshops focused on creating accessible documents.  These workshops provide opportunities for hands-on participation, covering common software (Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Acrobat), specialized software for remediation (Ally in bCourses) as well as best practices for inclusive design. 

Participants will leave each workshop with a list of resources to assist them in future remediation efforts.

Implementing Accommodations for Students with Disabilities

Accommodating students with disabilities is a shared campus responsibility. Faculty implement classroom accommodations for students with disabilities with the assistance of the Disabled Students' Program. Some of these accommodations are fairly straightforward and others are more difficult to interpret and implement, Come join DSP leadership in a discussion of disability accommodations including attendance accommodations, deadlines extensions, classroom policies and accommodations and more. Supporting Student Success through Inclusive Design: From Content to Curriculum

Accessible content authoring is not only essential for students who use assistive technologies, but it also results in more usable, flexible content that can adapt to diverse student needs and devices. During the workshop, we’ll discuss some of the key terms and research around inclusive learning and Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and the different ways Ally’s alternative formats and instructor feedback help support those learning goals.
